The headland of Barentsøya
Assuming the local polar bear population allows us to make a landing, Kapp Waldburg may prove to be one of the highlights of your Svalbard voyage. This wide coastal area leads to two gullies among sloping cliffs. We often pass reindeer on our walk into these gullies, where hundreds and sometimes thousands of kittiwakes nest on the cliffs faces.

Arctic foxes often linger below the nests to wait for falling chicks. Some of them are quite used to humans, running among our walking groups in search of prey, playing with each other on the tundra, or relaxing in the sun if the weather is fair. This abundance of wildlife makes Kapp Waldburg a great place to take photos or simply enjoy the good company.
