Ross Island

One of the main places of interest in the Ross Sea is Ross Island. This island - that is guarded by the famous volcano’s Mount Erebus and Mount Terror - contains many of the famous spots which played such an important role in the dramatic British expeditions of the last century such as Cape Royds with the cabin of Shackleton and Cape Evans Hut from Scott. On the island the biggest scientific station of Antarctica can be found, American McMurdo Station. Here another historic hut from Scott can be seen, the Discovery Hut.
