We dreamed of this trip for 26 years before finally pulling the plug and spending the money. For us it would be a once in a lifetime experience. And it turned out to be everything we'd dreamed of, and more. The ship was billed as "well accommodated, but not luxurious". Well, sorry, but heated towel racks are my idea of luxury. Everything from the accommodations to the expertise and professionalism of the crew to the emphasis on minimizing our impact on the environment just fit beautifully with what we'd dreamed of all those years. The food was outstanding … well, except for the dining room coffee, which was surprisingly awful. But the coffee machine in the passenger lounge served well enough, and we took to just going upstairs for our after-meal cup. So that worked out well anyway. We LOVED the crew … professional, accommodating, and informative. The seminars and presentations were well done, and added a great deal to the overall experience. We're so glad we chose Oceanwide for our dream trip. So now, of course, we have to figure out how to choose them again for a trip to the other pole … :)

The entire trip was an unforgettable and life changing experience. The expedition staff were very knowledgeable and informative about the landings, wildlife and environment. The guides always made sure that we were safe and made the most of every moment. If you get the chance to go on this trip, don't hesitate, it's worth every penny!

These ten days of adventure exploring the Antarctic Region was the thrill of a lifetime. This expedition delivered more than what I expected in terms of educational seminars, zodiac cruises, landings, and ship amenities. The Naturalists and Crew are top notch- full of energy, helpful, and happy.

This journey was on our bucketlist for a long time. It was amazing. Great crew, from hotel staff , kitchen staff, till expedition crew. We really enjoyed the birds, the whales and especially the pinquins and the lectures. We where very lucky with the weather, so we were able to make many landings. We were impressed how much effort was made not to leave a footprint on the landing site. We always had to clean our boots and clothing very well (so that no seeds were transferred). We where also lucky to had a up-grade to a very nice cabin. We came home with a lot off pictures and memories.

This 100 passenger ship was ideal for minimising sea sickness and maximising bird and mammal sightings.

excellent throughout we had a wonderful time and found all the staff helpful and knowledgeable . our cabin was very clean and comfortable and had all we required. the condition of the entire ship was really good and we would certainly sail on her again. one thing we would like to make you aware of is that in our experience (we have been to Antarctica 3 times now) we would not consider going on any ship which caters for a larger number of passengers than this one. the only problem for us we did not spend much time in Antarctica and would have much preferred more time there .

Like quite a number of other passengers, this was a trip to celebrate a milestone event: some were celebrating their 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays and even a 50th wedding anniversary in 2020. The overall atmosphere on the ship is professional yet relaxed, with experienced and enthusiastic expedition guides, and a superbly competent captain and crew. It was worth every cent or penny!

This trip to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica was amazing! I honestly had no idea how fabulous it would be. I am so glad my mom suggested it! Our expedition leader, Ali, and her expedition staff, and our captain and Zsusannah and her kitchen and housekeeping staff were all fantastic. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. Everyone worked really hard to ensure we all had a great time. The whole mood and tone of the ship was so positive. I would go again in a minute if work would let me take that much time off again so soon. I did not realize we would see so much wildlife or that it would be so pristine. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for an adventure. And it doesn't matter your age. We had an 80 year age range among the guests, from age 5 to 85! And everyone enjoyed it. This is a trip and an experience I will never forget!

If in recent years I was asked: "Where do you absolutely want to go?", The answer was invariably: "the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica". This year it was finally time. 19 days on board the MV Plancius for one of the most beautiful journeys I have ever made. 19 days in pure unspoiled nature, I was able to see over 100 whales, about 20 orcas, petrels, albatrosses and millions of penguins. No less than 7 different species of which the king penguin was one of the most impressive. And then the sailing between the big ice floes and icebergs. As an apotheosis there was the landing on the last continent: Antarctica. An unforgettable journey that has been made so unforgettable by the perfect organization and the expedition team of Oceanwide Expeditions.

When I told my friends I was going to Antarctica for the second time, they didn't seem to understand why. It's difficult to explain to those who don't love this continent, how much it can offer. There is not a single second or a single glance from the ship that is always the same. It doesn't matter how many times you've been there. Weather is different, light is different, life around is different and our gaze is also different. Entering the Weddell Sea and sailing to Snow Hill Island is an experience of thick ice and strong wind, but also of blue skies, fiery sunsets, deserts of light and so much life! Ortelius is an excellent ship, my cabin was a perfect nest and the staff did an excellent job. We landed on Snow Hill on a sunny afternoon, after a helicopter trip of about 20 minutes. Then a short walk to the colony of the Emperor Penguins. When I first see them I think of the film La Marche de l'empereur and I am moved by so much resilience. What a privilege it was to be there! And now, so many kilometers away, if I close my eyes I am still in Antarctica, where sooner or later I will return.

Wonderful trip with a kind, competent and passionate crew. the landscapes are unique while being varied. We were able to observe the fauna in good conditions, including ten landings and zodiac trips. - First of all, a big thank you to our French-speaking guides: Regis Perdriat, Chloé Maréchal, Hélène de Méringo, all three EXTRAORDINARIES of kindness and skills, who transmitted the polar cruising virus to us! - Thank you to Suzanna Varga our butler and all her team whose dedication has been matched only by her skill. - Thanks to David Begg our expedition leader, passionately in love with Antarctica, and to Daniel his assistant. His morning "good morning Plancius!" misses us every day ... - Finally, thank you to Captain Levakov and his team, who kindly welcomed us at the bridge and who answered our questions, throughout the trip. Thank you to all this team who were really ... on top!
