Moltke Harbour
This waypoint in many of our Antarctic voyages was discovered by James Cook in 1775, though it was not named until a century later when a German group of the International Polar Year Investigations expedition came to observe the transit of Venus. Arriving in 1882 on the steam corvette SMS Moltke, the first powered vessel to reach South Georgia, Moltke Harbour was soon named after it.
